If you're a member of a chamber of commerce in Stockton, Modesto, Tracy, or anywhere in the Central Valley, you might be sitting on a hiring benefit you didn't know about.
We've partnered with local chambers to give their members free job postings on 209.works — no catch, no credit card required.
Why Chambers Are Offering Free Job Postings
Chamber of commerce memberships come with a lot of perks: networking events, business directory listings, advocacy, and referrals. But most chambers don't have a good answer when members say "I need to hire someone."
The old answer was "post on Indeed." But that costs $300-500+ per hire, and half your applicants don't even live in California.
That's why we created the Chamber Partner Program. Local chambers can offer their members access to 209.works — a job board built specifically for the Central Valley — as a member benefit.
Which Chambers Participate?
We're currently working with chambers across San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced counties:
- Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce
- San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
- Modesto Chamber of Commerce
- Tracy Chamber of Commerce
- Manteca Chamber of Commerce
- Lodi Chamber of Commerce
- Merced County Chamber of Commerce
- Turlock Chamber of Commerce
Don't see your chamber? Email us — we're actively adding more partners.
How It Works
- 1. Get your chamber's discount code
Your chamber should have shared a unique code with members. If you don't have it, contact your chamber office. - 2. Post your job on 209.works
Go to 209.works/hire and create your job posting. - 3. Enter the code at checkout
During checkout, enter your chamber's discount code. The price drops to $0. - 4. Your job goes live immediately
Local job seekers in the 209 can now find and apply to your position.
What You Get
Chamber members get the same features as paid job postings:
- 30-day job listing — visible to all 209.works job seekers
- Local-only applicants — no spam from out-of-state
- Direct applicant contact — email and phone numbers, not messages through a platform
- AI candidate matching — we help surface candidates who fit your requirements
- Real human support — questions? Email paul@209.works
Why Local Beats National
If you've used Indeed or ZipRecruiter, you know the pain:
- $5-12 per click (not per application — per click)
- Half your applicants don't live anywhere near you
- "Easy Apply" floods you with mass-appliers who didn't read your posting
- Algorithm decides who sees your job based on how much you spend
209.works is different. We only serve the Central Valley. Everyone who sees your job is local. Everyone who applies actually wants YOUR job, not just any job.
Real Numbers
A Stockton warehouse spent $847 on Indeed to make one hire. On 209.works, they got the same quality hire for $99 (and would have been $0 with their chamber code).
Common Questions
Do I have to prove I'm a chamber member?
The discount code itself is proof — chambers only share codes with active members. If the code works, you're good.
What if I need to hire multiple positions?
Most chamber codes cover multiple free postings. Check with your chamber for limits. If you need to hire a lot, we can set up a custom arrangement.
What happens after the free pilot?
During the pilot period, postings are free. After that, chamber members get a permanent 25% discount on all job postings ($74 instead of $99). Still cheaper than one click on Indeed.
Is this only for certain industries?
No — we support all local hiring. Warehouse, retail, healthcare, hospitality, admin, professional services, construction, you name it. If it's a real job in the 209, we can help fill it.
How to Get Started
If you're already a chamber member:
- Contact your chamber to get the discount code
- Visit 209.works/hire to create your posting
- Enter the code at checkout
If you're not yet a chamber member, consider joining. Beyond the free job postings, chambers offer networking, credibility, and business support that helps local businesses thrive.
Questions?
This is a new program, and we're making it up as we go based on what actually helps local businesses hire. If you have questions, suggestions, or want your chamber to participate, email me directly: paul@209.works
209.works is a proud member of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce.
Built 209.works after watching Central Valley businesses overpay for hiring tools that don't work for them. Grew up in the Valley and wanted to create something that actually helps.
