You found a job posting that looks perfect. But is it actually a good fit? Should you spend an hour customizing your resume and cover letter, or is it a long shot?
That's why we built the Job Fit Analyzer — a free AI tool that tells you exactly how well you match any job posting, and what to do about it.
What the Job Fit Analyzer Does
Upload your resume, paste a job description, and in about 30 seconds you get:
An honest assessment of how well your experience matches what they're looking for
What you should highlight in your cover letter and interview
What you're missing and how to address it (or learn it)
5 likely questions they'll ask, based on the job description
Plus you get cover letter talking points, resume keywords to include, and company research tips.
How to Use It (Step by Step)
Step 1: Choose Your Input Method
You have two options:
- Paste the job description (recommended) — Copy the job posting text and paste it in. This works for any job on any site.
- Enter a URL — Works for some job sites, but Indeed and LinkedIn often block this. If it fails, just paste the text instead.
Step 2: Add Job Details
If you're pasting, enter:
- Job title
- Company name
- Location (optional)
- Full job description
Tip: Include the entire job description — responsibilities, requirements, qualifications, everything. The more detail you give, the better the analysis.
Step 3: Upload Your Resume
Upload your resume in PDF, DOCX, or TXT format. The AI will analyze your experience, skills, and background against the job requirements.
Step 4: Get Your Results
In about 30-60 seconds, you'll see your full analysis. A copy is also emailed to you so you can reference it later.
Understanding Your Fit Score
- 80-100Excellent MatchApply now. You have what they're looking for.
- 60-79Good MatchDefinitely worth applying. Address the gaps in your cover letter.
- 40-59Possible FitConsider applying, but be realistic. Focus on transferable skills.
- 0-39Not Ready YetWork on the gaps first, or look for different roles that match your current skills.
What to Do With Your Results
If You Score 60+: Apply!
Use the analysis to strengthen your application:
- Cover letter: Lead with your strengths. The tool tells you exactly what to highlight.
- Resume: Add the suggested keywords. Many companies use software that scans for specific terms.
- Interview prep: Practice answering the predicted questions before your interview.
If You Score 40-59: Apply Strategically
You might still get the job, but you need to be smart about it:
- Address gaps directly: In your cover letter, acknowledge what you're learning and show enthusiasm for growth.
- Highlight transferable skills: Your experience in other areas might be more relevant than you think.
- Apply anyway if you're excited: Passion and cultural fit matter. Not every hire is the "perfect" candidate on paper.
If You Score Below 40: Build Skills First
Don't waste time on long-shot applications. Instead:
- Work on the specific gaps: The tool tells you exactly what skills to develop.
- Look for stepping-stone roles: Find jobs that will give you the experience you're missing.
- Take courses: Many skills can be learned quickly through online courses (check if your library offers free LinkedIn Learning).
Pro Tips for Better Results
- Include the full job description — Don't just paste the requirements. Include responsibilities, about the company, and any other details. More context = better analysis.
- Use your real resume — Don't submit a generic resume. Use whatever version you'd actually send to this employer.
- Analyze multiple jobs — Use it to compare different opportunities and see which ones are the best fit for your background.
- Re-analyze after updating your resume — Made changes based on the suggestions? Run it again to see if your score improved.
